Virtual Webinar with Therapist Jill · Black Sheep Therapy
My husband died in January 2018. My dad died in September of the same year. My younger brother died by suicide on September 28 of this year. So I already know these holidays are not going to feel the same. The empty chair is real. The traditions that used to work don’t. And the pressure to act like everything is fine is exhausting.
Grief is not a problem to solve and it is not a stage you finish. It is what happens when love, attachment, identity, and the future you counted on collide with the irreversible fact of death. It is raw. It is often shitty. It can make you unrecognizable to yourself. And the holidays have a special way of making all of that louder.
This webinar is for anyone heading into Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s while carrying a loss. We’ll talk about what the brain and body actually do during this stretch, why the empty chair and the well-meaning comments hit so hard, and how to get through the days without performing or disappearing.
What we’ll cover:
- Why the dread starts weeks early and the crash hits after
- The empty chair, changed traditions, and what to do with both
- Straight talk on family dynamics and the comments that make it worse
- Simple ways to include your person (or not) without forcing it
- Boundaries and exit plans that protect your nervous system
- How to stop hiding the grief so it doesn’t run the whole season
No silver linings. No “they would want you to be happy.” Just the actual depth of what this time of year asks of people who are grieving.
Come as you are. You don’t have to share. You don’t have to be okay.
